In November 2021, the UniCredit Foundation launched the "Call for Europe" initiative - for the third year running - with the aim of identifying and supporting social projects dedicated to children in the various European countries where UniCredit is present.
At the end of February, the Group's local banks were invited to identify and communicate a short-list of up to five projects to UniCredit Foundation, with particular local relevance and to support children and young people. An Assessment Committee appointed by the UniCredit Foundation finalised the selection process for the winning initiatives, awarding a total amount of 500.000 euros to 52 winning projects that will be developed in 12 Group countries: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Each country was awarded 40.000 euros, divided among the winning local projects. Additional 20.000 euros were awarded by the Assessment Committee to a number of projects with aims deemed particularly deserving.
The entire amount of € 500.000, thanks to the 52 initiatives awarded, will go to support the following areas of intervention in favor of children: € 238.500 for education, € 104.500 for social inclusion, € 94.000 for disability and € 63.000 for Health.
Thanks to "Call for Europe", in three years €1.360,000 have been awarded to support 144 projects in Group countries to help children and young people.
