UniCredit renews its historic support for Barcolana 2024, confirming its role as Partner of “Barcolana per il Sociale”. The initiative promotes social integration and accessibility to water sports for people with disabilities. UniCredit also supports parasailing projects through Carta Etica and maintains its role as the official sponsor of the Italian Federation of Paralympic Sports.
UniCredit confirms its long-standing support for Barcolana, the world’s most attended sailing event, renewing it with a focus on sustainability and inclusivity.
This year, the bank participates as Partner of Barcolana for Social
An initiative that brought sailors and boats from the Hansa 303 and 2.4 classes to Trieste, competing in parasailing races on Monday, October 7, and Tuesday, October 8. Following these races, on Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10, two promotional days were held during which instructors and experienced sailors accompanied people with disabilities for their “baptism of sailing,” giving them the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful experience.
Also within the Barcolana per il Sociale program, on October 7 at 6:00 PM, the sailing clubs Triestina per la Vela and Barcola e Grignano organized a conference titled "Inclusivity and strategies to make sea sports accessible to all." Among the speakers there was Renzo Chervatin, Head of Territorial Development & Relations Nord Est at UniCredit.
UniCredit's support aims to demonstrate the value of sport as a tool to promote integration, socialization, and mutual respect, with the awareness that the determination and passion of the athletes are values shared with the organizers of Barcolana for Social and with all the participants in this event.
Over the last five years, thanks to the funds raised through its Carta Etica, UniCredit has supported numerous parasailing projects across Italy and contributed to the purchase of boats and equipment to promote and grow inclusive sailing activities.
Adding to this commitment is UniCredit's role as the Official Sponsor of the Italian Federation of Paralympic Sports and Title Sponsor of the Paralympic Athletics ACADEMY, a position it held during 2021-22 and has confirmed for 2023-24 as well.
