UniCredit has reconfirmed its status as a leading bank in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) by claiming top honours for the region in Global Finance’s annual Trade and Supply Chain Finance Providers Awards. Once again, UniCredit has been named both Best Trade Finance Bank in CEE and Best Supply Chain Finance (SCF) Provider in CEE. Alongside these regional awards, the bank was also named Best Supply Chain Finance Provider for Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The annual awards are chosen by Global Finance's editorial board by factoring in market research, input from expert sources and users of trade finance and supply chain finance services, as well as bank submissions, in order to select the institutions that reliably provide the best services in local markets.

“After a highly challenging year for the whole economy, we are proud to once again be recognised in one of the bank’s key strategic regions. Our thanks go out to our dedicated team, as well as to our valued clients, without whom this recognition would not have been possible” said Gianfranco Bisagni and Niccolò Ubertalli, Co-CEOs of Commercial Banking, Central and Eastern Europe at UniCredit. “This recognition – heightened by our unrivalled track record of success in these awards – demonstrates our strength and passion for trade finance and supply chain finance, which drives our ability to help clients navigate challenging environments such as the COVID-19 crisis.”

These results follow a year of strong investment across UniCredit GTB – including innovations such as Trade Finance Gate (the bank’s digital trade finance client portal), Trade Finance OCR (a tool for scanning paper documents into a digital workflow), and fintech partnerships with the likes of Taulia and FinDynamic for working capital clients. The bank has not only preserved its support to clients during the economic downturn, but also led industry trends by investing in innovative solutions that can better meet client needs.

The awards add to an increasing list of wins for UniCredit’s Global Transaction Banking unit. Recent honours include Best Bank for Supply Chain Finance in The Banker's Transaction Banking Awards 2020; Best Bank for Transaction Services in Central & Eastern Europe – along with five other awards – in Euromoney's Awards for Excellence 2020; and Best Transaction Services Provider in Western Europe in The Banker's Transaction Banking Awards 2019.
