High scores among the World’s Most Sustainable Companies

UniCredit has ranked 1st in Italy and 2nd in its global peer group in the Corporate Knights’ 2022 World’s Most Sustainable Corporations ranking.
UniCredit has entered the Corporate Knights’ rankings for the first time this year, scoring 1st in Italy as well as coming in 2nd in its global peer group (751 companies). The bank’s overall rank in the Corporate Knights’ Global 100 Index for 2022 is 59.

Corporate Knights provides an annual ranking of the World’s 100 Most Sustainable Corporations based on key environmental, social and governance (ESG) metrics. The ranking draws on a rigorous assessment of 6,914 companies with more than US$1 billion in revenues. It also sheds light on the evolution of ESG priorities and outcomes, and on the extent of the gap between leading sustainability performers and their global corporate peers.
Sustainability is a key lever of our new UniCredit Unlocked business strategy presented in December 2021 with several ambitious ESG targets for 2022-2024. This includes a target of €150 billion in new cumulative ESG volumes across environmental lending, ESG investment products, sustainable bonds and social lending. The Bank will also invest €100 million to ensure equal pay for equal work and is committed to a net zero target on own emissions by 2030 and on financed emissions by 2050.
