Phishing is a scam where targets are contacted by email in order to gather personal information from them. The attackers will impersonate a trusted entity and so communication may look very similar to that from banks or other companies people will often do business with but with the use of counterfeit logos.

One major giveaway is the email will usually contain a link that, after being clicked, requires the user to enter passwords, codes and / or personal data.
