The “From Croatia to the World” exhibition was launched in mid-February in Zagreb, to celebrate prominent scientists, inventors, writers, artists and researchers of Croatian origin. Their inventions, books, works of art and knowledge, are the pride of Croatia, and have contributed to and influenced global development. Inventions include the parachute, the pencil, fingerprint identification system and a double-entry bookkeeping system. The exhibition will last until 15 May 2021 with the Covid-19 safety measures in place.

Zagrebačka banka is supporting the initiative as part of UniCredit’s continued commitment and long tradition of promoting culture to benefit social and economy growth as well as foster a greater sense of cohesiveness and belonging within the community.

The project came about after initiative by Croatian daily newspaper Večernji list, to present great Croatian people and their inventions chronologically starting from the 16th Century. This idea is central to the whole exhibition, which highlights 38 iconic Croatians and more than 1,500 exhibits.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors can view works of art, drawings, patents, archive documents and videos, as well as devices and machines that were invented. As part of the exhibition, Zagrebačka banka is presenting the “Zaba Corner”, where each weekend visitors can try the Zagreb Time Travel application to “travel” back to the past while learning many interesting and fun facts from the past of Zagreb.

This application won the first prize in the 2017 My Zaba Start competition, a socially responsible project by which Zagrebačka banka over the years supported numerous innovative entrepreneurial, cultural, scientific and socially responsible ideas and projects. In addition, Zagrebačka banka provided a discount on tickets for all visitors paying with Zaba cards.
