Filarmonica della Scala begins the ninth annual Open Rehearsals
For the ninth consecutive year, the Open Rehearsals are back. This important music project to support non-profit organizations in Milan raised €1 million for social activities in 2017.
This initiative's years of success demonstrates that there is growing awareness the most vulnerable parts of the population deserve support and solidarity.
As in past years, the musicians of Filarmonica della Scala, with support from the UniCredit Foundation and UniCredit as well as cooperation from Teatro alla Scala, will take the stage with some of the most renowned conductors of classical music, including Riccardo Chailly (Artistic Director of Teatro alla Scala and Principal Conductor of the orchestra), Myung-whun Chung, Yuri Temirkanov and Daniel Harding, along with talented soloists such as Benjamin Grosvenor, Leonidas Kavakos, Seong-jin Cho and Daniil Trifonov.
In 2018, ticket proceeds from Open Rehearsals will be donated to four organizations working in the Milan area to provide services to the elderly. These four organizations addressing different challenges to the elderly are Società Umanitaria, Fondazione IRCCS Ca' Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Cooperativa Sociale Eureka!, Società di San Vincenzo De Paoli.
The four rehearsals will take place between January and May 2018, however there is another special inaugural Open Rehearsal, free and dedicated to the city of Milan, on Sunday November, 5 2017 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the evening are distributed by the municipality to Recreational Association Centers and Youth Aggregation Centers, by the Cultural Promotion Service of the Teatro alla Scala, and by ViviMilano, which is the media partner of the project.
