UniCredit intercepted a malicious attempt to access its customers' mobile home banking platform in Italy over the past 24 hours. No banking data has been compromised. For security reasons circa 10,000 customer account credentials have been suspended pending individual password reset. UniCredit is currently contacting clients to proceed with the password reset.
UniCredit serves 7 million retail customers in the Italian market. Customer data safety and security is UniCredit's top priority and as part of Transform 2019, UniCredit is investing 2.3 billion euro in upgrading and strengthening its IT systems.
