One million kuna for winners of the 5th Moj Zaba Start contest

Zaba is financially supporting the most innovative and promising projects among the 400 that entered the contest

 

 

 

At a ceremony that took place in Zagreb this Thursday, awards were presented to the most successful participants of the Zagrebacka banka's Moj Zaba Start contest. This year, over 400 projects entered the contest in one of three categories - Entrepreneurship, Culture and Science, and Society. Three best projects from each of the categories were selected to be awarded a HRK 120,000 grant for first place, a HRK 100,000 grant for second place and a HRK 80,000 grant for third place. Including the public's awards, Zaba awarded nearly HRK 1m worth of grants in total.

We support those who are innovative, excellent and ambitious, which is why we are proud that over 400 entrepreneurs, institutions, associations and NGOs this year recognized the value of the Moj Zaba Start contest and entered their initiatives," said Miljenko Zivaljic, President of the Management Board of Zagrebacka banka.

 

First prize in the Entrepreneurship category went to the Hip Rehabilitation Device project conceived by Filip Sironic. The second prize went to Adventure Donkey's SightRun project, while the third prize was won by the Wooden Scuffs with Swappable Uppers project developed by Lels.

 

The first prize in the Culture and Science category was won by the University Hospital Centre Zagreb with its project entitled Software for Inputting and Analysing the Data of Prostate Cancer Patients Treated at the Hospital's Prostate Centre. The second prize went to the Biopolymer Microcapsules for Plant Protection/Nutrition (BIMIBI) project developed by the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb, while the third prize went to the Dracula project from the Amaranthine Books publishing company.

 

In the Society category, the jury awarded the first prize to the project entitled Furnishing the Volunteer Centre with Lodging Facility - "Today I am here! For you!" which was developed by the Children and Youth Advocacy Association Smijesak za sve, while the second prize was awarded to the Little Happiness Factory developed by the Juraj Bonaci Centre for Education. The third prize was awarded to the Scout Association of Croatia's project GoScoutingCroatia.

 

In addition to the main prizes, the finalists in all three categories also competed for the public's awards worth HRK 30,000. Citizens voted at the www.mojzabastart.hr website and they chose: Adventure Donkey's project SightRun in the Entrepreneurship category; Tomo Svagusa's project CardioSave: Measuring Heart Markers in Urine as a New Method of Discovering Cardiotoxicity of Chemotherapy in the Culture and Science category; and the Sun's Swing project by Podravsko sunce Centre for Education and Rehabilitation in the Society category.

 

This is the fifth year that Zagrebacka banka has been presenting awards to innovative and market-based ideas through the Moj Zaba Start project, supporting those who stand out in different fields. Through this project, Zaba has so far supported over 50 viable projects, including innovative start-ups, socially responsible initiatives, green entrepreneurship and creative industry projects, and development of apps and IT solutions.
