UniCredit boasts the largest Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) registration in the world in terms of
the number of offices and branches.
UniCredit S.p.A. has obtained Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) certification for the fourth consecutive time for all its activities in Italy, with more than 2,500 sites including offices and branches included in the certification.
EMAS registration is a voluntary tool, created by the European Commission, which certifies the commitment of companies and public bodies to establish an Environmental Management System to identify significant aspects of their activities in this area, progressively reduce their impacts and improve environmental performance.
The Environmental Management System is the framework in which our plans to protect the environment converge, considering both direct factors, i.e., the consumption of energy and raw materials such as paper, the production and management of waste, climate-altering emissions, and indirect factors, such as the provision of credit and procurement policies.
After verification by an accredited external party, EMAS certification attests the validity and effectiveness of UniCredit's Environmental Management System and the objectives achieved, recognising the commitment of the organisation and all colleagues in reducing the negative environmental impacts of our activities.
Our sustainability has deep roots, if you consider that the first EMAS certification dates back to 2002 and applied only to a small number of sites.
This important certification, obtained thanks to the involvement of thousands of colleagues, is a confirmation of the quality of our commitment and an outstanding testimony to the contribution of each of us in achieving our results.
In addition to EMAS certification in Italy, the Group also holds ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification for Bank Austria and UniCredit Bank Czech Republic and Slovakia.
