UniCredit announces the sale by BA-CA of the Croatian subsidiary HVB Splitska banka to Société Générale

UniCredit announces that Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA), Member of the UniCredit Group since November 2005, sold its Croatian banking subsidiary HVB Splitska banka to the French banking group Société Générale, for a total amount of around 1 bln Euro. The agreement was signed today in Vienna. The transaction is subject to approval by the competent authorities and is expected to be completed by June 2006.
Under Croatian law, merger control requirements make it necessary to sell HVB Splitska banka. The buyer has been selected on the basis of a tender procedure in line with standard international practices.
The investment banks CA IB and Credit Suisse, and the law firm Wolff Theiss, acted as advisors to BA-CA in the sale process.
