Like any other human activity, publishing of an annual report contributes to emission in atmosphere of greenhouse gases, calculated as CO2 (carbon dioxide) equivalent.
Companies may offset their calculated emissions by purchasing credits generated out of specific greenhouse gas abatement projects.
6,838 kg of white paper were used for UniCredit Group's reports, equivalent, under commonly accepted conversion factors, to 11.625 metric tons. UniCredit chose to offset its relevant emissions by purchasing 12 credits (each credit representing 1 metric ton) out of biomass district heating plant in Valtellina. The plant uses sustainable biomasses coming from local timber production waste and forest maintenance.
Credits purchased by Azzero CO2 on behalf of UniCredit are verified by a third party and cancelled in the relevant register.
