On display at the UniCredit Pavilion from July 26 to August 28, 2016
A year after its inauguration, the UniCredit Pavilion is delighted to host Onde Pixel - Lo Sguardo di... Miguel Chevalier, from July 26 to August 28 , an exhibition that will unveil a new installation created for the Pavilion by the French artist, a pioneer of virtual art, inspired by a number of contemporary works from the UniCredit Art Collection.
Onde Pixel features sumptuous, shape-shifting floor projections and kaleidoscopic patterns that allow the public to immerse themselves in it. Its fusion of colors, forms and music - composed by Jacopo Baboni Schilingi - are triggered by sensors that enables viewers to "inhabit" the work in a game of weights and measures, distance and proximity, becoming an integral part of the installation.
"The idea of exploring the UniCredit Art Collection stems from a journey which began last year, placing the viewer at the heart of the observation process", said Serena Massimi, Head of UniCredit Pavilion, Events & Art Management. "The power of this exhibition lies in the fact that it engages people - they participate in the artwork, both physically and emotionally. Openness, inclusion, experimentation and innovation are the basis for the UniCredit Pavilion, and they are the values and themes that Chevalier was able to capture and interpret in a complete and compelling manner."
Onde Pixel will be free to visit and will also feature photographs, three-dimensional sculptures and movies on LCD screens, in line with Chevalier's digital, interactive approach to art.
From the Pavilion Passarella dell'Arte ("Art Walkway"), visitors will be able to admire the installation as a digital carpet, watching it change as the public move over it, immersed in contemporary art.
"In this major digital installation, I wanted to explore some of the recurring themes in my work, such as the relationship between nature and artifice, the observation of the flows and networks that shape our contemporary society, the imaginary architecture and virtual cities, questioning our relationship with the world and with the art of twenty-first century " said Chevelier.
The exhibition serves to reiterate UniCredit's commitment to disseminating culture, with a view to fostering the sustainable development of the communities in which it works, striving to bring art to a new, wider audience.

MIGUEL CHEVALIER - BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1959 in Mexico City, Miguel Chevalier has lived in Paris since 1985. He studied in Paris, first graduating from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts (1981) and then from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (1983). Since 1978, Chevalier has devoted himself exclusively to the computer as a means of artistic expression. His experimental and multidisciplinary works are rich with references to art history, which he then reformulates using IT tools. Miguel Chevalier has created numerous exhibitions and installations for museums, cultural spaces and international festivals around the world, including the Filux Festival in Mexico in 2013, the Museum of Modern Art in Céret (France) in 2014, and the King's College Chapel in Cambridge, in 2015. He has also conceived a series of projects in public spaces, along with works which are intimately connected to architecture, such as the facade of the building that houses the Cinéma des Fauvettes in Paris, in 2015.
JACOPO BABONI SCHILINGI - BIOGRAPHY
Born in Milan in 1971, Jacopo Baboni Schilingi is often identified as belonging to the "erudite" musical circle, which focuses primarily on writing and interactivity. Having graduated with a degree in composition in 1994, Baboni Schilingi has gone on to become one of the leading composers of his generation, and his talent is recognized both by the so-called musical conservatives and within classical concert halls, and by the new wave of multidisciplinary artistic expression, which combines images, architecture and interaction with the public. His work with Arman in 2000 launched a series of collaborations with Miguel Chevalier, Jean-Pierre Balpe, Alain Fleischer, Elias Crespin, Sarkis and others. This year, Baboni Schilingi is Deputy Artistic Director at the EMW-2015 International Festival of Electronic Music in Shanghai, as well as serving as a "visiting professor" at Harvard University in the United States and Guest Professor at the Wuhan Conservatory in China.
