Covered Bonds
Bonds are fixed income instruments which represent debt, incurred by companies or other bodies, which are redeemed at a specified maturity.
The main terms of the bonds include the issuer name, nominal value, interest rate, issue price and redemption.
Bonds bear Interest payments (known as coupons), that may be fixed or floating,and are usually negotiated on regulated markets Furthermore this type of securities can be issued in registered or bearer form.
Bond issue is a strategic part of funding policy of UniCredit, allowing the Group to achieve a correct balance of medium and long term assets and liabilities.
OBG Programme - Obbligazioni Bancarie Garantite
The Italian legislative framework enables Italian OBG to be included among the key market segment of regulated covered bonds, next to German Pfandbriefe or French Obligations Foncières.
With the OBG Programme, UniCredit is benefiting from an additional diversification of funding sources, improved funding cost and the typical medium/long term characteristic of the product.
