At UniCredit, sustainability is part of our daily commitment and we continue to further implement environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects across our business, risks, and human capital, adopting a full stakeholders' view.
We favour long-term sustainable outcomes, with a clear set of sustainability targets fully integrated into our current business strategy.
We deliver on our targets through the efficient execution of our industrial plan, with discipline and transparency.
We are serious about the role we can play in the transition to a low carbon and more sustainable global economy, knowing that, as a bank, we want to be an active part of the solution. Therefore, we have developed a Sustainability Bond Framework for the issuance of green, social or sustainability bonds. Proceeds from these bonds will be used to support identified eligible green and social projects. For example, each issuing legal entity of our Group will support green projects in the fields of renewable energy and clean transportation or green buildings, as well as social projects in the areas of healthcare, affordable housing and projects related to UniCredit's Social Impact Banking activities.
UniCredit will monitor the financed projects and will provide disclosure on their developments by including targeted key performance indicators in regular, dedicated allocation and impact reports.
UniCredit's bond issuance under the Sustainability Bond Framework is based on the Green Bond Principles (2021 version), Social Bond Principles (2021) and Sustainability Bond Guidelines (2021) as administered by the International Capital Markets Association ("ICMA").
The Sustainability Bond Framework is also intended to be aligned, on a best effort basis, with ongoing proposals for the EU Green Bond Standard and EU classification of environmentally sustainable economic activities (EU Taxonomy).
Our Sustainable Bond Framework has been reviewed by a second party opinion provider.
