UniCredit Thinks Pink in Support of Breast Cancer Prevention Month
Friday 25 October 2024
This pink October UniCredit colleagues spread messages of hope and strength to all women who bravely fight breast cancer. Our teams are focusing the attention to the life-saving benefits of prevention and regular check-ups for early detection of this disease that affects one in eight women in Europe.
The rainy weather did not stop numerous colleagues from UniCredit Bank Bosnia and Herzegovina Mostar to walk in the traditional Race for the Cure event, part of the Think Pink campaign. They stood together with thousands of brave people and heroines from Bosnia and Herzegovina as a sign of support, bringing extra warmth and positive energy into the whole day. The bank made its annual contribution to the cause in hope to increase knowledge and accessibility of the necessary examinations to women and save at least one life.
“We believe that common awareness, solidarity and care for each other represent the fundamental force that drives positive changes in society”
said Amina Mahmutovic, CEO of UniCredit Bank Bosnia and Herzegovina Mostar.
Standing together as one team, the colleagues of UniCredit Bank Banja Luka also participated with donations in the Race for Cure the platform. While colleagues in Sarajevo marched in the Race for the Cure event, the team in Banja Luka, ran in the Banja Luka Marathon, also dedicated to the cause. The bank’s CEO Spas Vidarkinsky was also among the running team. UniCredit Bank Banka Luka “converted” all the kilometers ran by our UniCredit runners into a donation for the Association of Women Suffering from Breast Cancer "Iskra", because every step forward is a step towards a cure. Our colleagues Ognjen Curać and Tomislav Djukic had the third best result in the relay race for men, further motivated by the special purpose and goal.
In the month of the fight against breast cancer, Zagrebacka banka in Croatia continued its cooperation with the association "Sve za nju!". The bank organized for our colleagues a motivational lecture as part of the TransformaciJA and TI project. The lecture was led by Ana Dornik, a woman who who herself defeated this malignant disease two years ago, and after that started a project in which she organizes motivational forums on the topic of mental and physical health. Ana was joined at the forum by experts: Marijana Braš (Dr., Prof., Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb), Ljiljana Vukota (Sve za nju), Andrej Roth (Dr.Sc. Oncology and Plastic Surgery, KBC Sestre Milosrdnice), Maja Prutki (Ph.D. in radiology, KBC Zagreb) and "survivor" Nina Markovac.
Also in Austria October is dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer. The Pink Ribbon is a powerful symbol of hope and strength, uniting people in their solidarity with those affected. This year, as part of our Wellbeing Agenda, UniCredit Bank Austria is once again supporting the Pink Ribbon Initiative of the Austrian Cancer Aid. The whole management board, led by the CEO Ivan Vlaho also wore the Pink Ribbon as a sign of solidarity and awareness for prevention.
