Spanish Grand Prix: The Ultimate Test of Performance
Thursday 29 May 2025
As Formula 1 heads to Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari HP returns to one of the sport’s most technically demanding circuits - Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
A staple on the calendar, this track is more than just a race venue; it’s a benchmark for car performance and driver precision.

The True All-Rounder
Once known as “the home of testing,” the Barcelona circuit is renowned for its versatility. Featuring a combination of fast straights, high-speed corners, and technical low-speed sections, the layout challenges every aspect of a Formula 1 car. It’s the ultimate circuit where car balance, aerodynamic efficiency, and tyre management all come into play.
A Faster Flow in 2023
To enhance overtaking and increase race flow, the track underwent a key modification in 2023 - the removal of the final chicane reverting the section to the original layout of 1991. This change has made the layout faster and more fluid, rewarding bravery and precision through the final sector and onto the main straight.
Where Saturday Shapes Sunday
In Barcelona, qualifying is crucial. With limited overtaking opportunities and high tyre degradation, track position is everything. Historically, the importance of pole position is undeniable - 24 of the past editions have been won by the pole-sitter. The fight for the front row is often just as intense as the race itself.
