The bank has exceeded the agreed reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by two-thirds and the agreed increase of energy efficiency by a third, compared to 2008. All electricity now comes from renewable energy sources

The bank can proudly state that it has already significantly exceeded the targets set in 2011 as part of the Klima:aktiv Pakt2020, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 84 per cent and increasing energy efficiency by 55 per cent between 2008 and the end of 2019. In addition to this, 100 per cent of electricity is purchased from renewable energy sources.

Klima:aktiv Pakt2020 was launched in 2011 by the Austrian Ministry of the Environment’s (BMK) and signed by UniCredit Bank Austria and eleven other of the largest Austrian companies of various industry sectors.

Since 2011, UniCredit Bank Austria has committed to voluntary reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 16 per cent and to an increase energy efficiency by at least 20 per cent by the end of 2020 compared to 2005.
