UniCredit Tower joins the 2021 international campaign to shed light on endometriosis on the day of the World EndoMarch, which usually takes place in more than 55 cities worldwide and this year is being held in virtual mode with thousands of digital flash-mobs and social media initiatives.
Endometriosis Awareness Month takes place across the globe during March (and beyond) with a mission to raise awareness of a disease which affects an estimated 200 million women worldwide. (source: endometriosis.org)
Although Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women, it takes up to 7 and a half years on average to be diagnosed (source: endometriosis.org). This unacceptably long diagnosis period is the main purpose of raising awareness of the condition’s symptoms so that more women can receive diagnosis and treatment earlier.
The pain of endometriosis can be devastating; it is the biggest cause of infertility in women, and often carries a huge personal and societal burden. According to the Italian AENDO Association, who also promotes our headquarters initiative, an estimated €30 billion is lost annually in Europe on endometriosis-related absences including reduced working hours, sick days, or the inability to work due to the condition.
