We are proud to have been recently included in three important Indexes: Bloomberg’s 2022 Gender-Equality Index, the European Women on Boards Gender Equality Index and the 2022 Break the ceiling touch the sky 101 Best Global Companies for women in leadership Index

The Group has been included in the Bloomberg’s Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the third time, with an overall GEI score being above the sector and country (Italy) benchmark. The 2022 GEI embraces 418 companies spanning 11 sectors, headquartered across 45 countries and regions.

Sara Gay, Head of Group Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, commented: “This is an important acknowledgement for us that shows our commitment to strengthening the Bank’s pipeline of talented women in line with our pledge for a more diverse leadership team. At UniCredit, we believe that we must play a fundamental role within society to act as the engine of social progress. We are proud to say that we are continuing to move towards a more diverse and inclusive future, aiming to achieve gender parity across our organisation. Diversity of thought at all levels of our business will only make us stronger. Together, we will continue to nurture a supportive and inclusive work environment, unlocking the potential of UniCredit.”

In October 2021, during the G20 Women's Forum Italy, our Group CEO signed the CEO Champion Commitment "Towards the Zero Gender Gap", ensuring the topic is firmly established as a key corporate commitment to move towards greater gender equality, and diversity and inclusion in our Bank. In addition to this, 46% of our Board of Directors, 40% of our Group Executive Committee (GEC) and 33% of our Leadership team are made up of women.  We have also increased the representation of women in the Group's new hires, reaching 58% in 2021 compared to 55% in the last 2 years.

Furthermore, we are delighted to share that UniCredit has been acknowledged as a Best Practice Leader in the European Women on Boards (EWoB) Gender Equality Index Report. In a study of 668 European companies, results showed that overall women’s participation in corporate leadership roles remains remarkably low. The Bank has proudly been recognised as one of the 84 companies scoring an 0.8 on the EWoB Gender Diversity Index. The Group’s score puts us in the top league, meaning we achieved gender equality at the highest decision level.

Commenting on the recognition, Hedwige Nuyens, Chair of European Women on Boards said:

“UniCredit showed an incredible performance last year and is now number one amongst European banks, and number one in Italy. Congratulations on this fabulous achievement, you have reached gender equality at the highest decision level. I am very happy to congratulate all of UniCredit on this accomplishment.”

Finally, the Bank ranked 14 out of 101 companies included in the 2022 Break the ceiling touch the sky 101 Best Global Companies for women in leadership Index, which takes into account the share of women on Board of Directors and at executive level of the world's 500 largest Companies, covering over 10,000 executives.
