Celebrating Diversity Day across the globe
Friday 20 May 2022
This upcoming Saturday, May 21, marks World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development – a United Nations-declared international day dedicated to promoting a deeper understanding of cultural diversity across the globe.
Commonly known as Diversity Day, the worldwide event is an opportunity to help communities understand the value of cultural diversity, celebrating the richness of the world’s cultures and the promotion inter-cultural dialogue. Diversity Day is a moment to recognise the driving force of cultural diversity, acknowledging that bridging the gap between cultures is necessary for peace, stability and global development.
Committed to driving our purpose of empowering communities to progress, UniCredit is proud to promote cultural diversity in its various forms as an engine of social, economic and sustainable development. We maintain our strong efforts in working towards our ambition of increasing cultural and ethnic diversities within our Bank, as we celebrate and recognize our employees across 13 countries within our Group.
Our pan-European footprint provides us with a unique talent base, allowing us to promote diverse teams across the entire organisation. In fact, the percentage of UniCredit employees based outside of our Milan-based Head Office includes:
of our Leadership Team
of our Group Executive Committee
In line with our Group’s continued support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its pledge to leave no one behind, UniCredit recognises that a common cultural understanding fosters respect and open-mindedness for different countries and regions around the world.
Valuing our differences, as well as our common interests, helps unite and educate our people to understand different geographies, broaden our own perspectives, and fully experience and educate ourselves on this important topic.
Nikolina Zečić, Head of Group Culture commented:
“UniCredit maintains a deep appreciation and respect for cultural and individual differences — a practice which remains essential in building our bank for tomorrow. With such a large geographic footprint, we have both the opportunity and privilege to learn from our different countries and grow in our diversity, equity and inclusion best practices together.”
In honour of the day, the UniCredit Tower spire will light up in yellow, violet, red, green, and blue at the Bank’s headquarters in Milan.
