HypoVereinsbank extends its long-standing commitment to the promotion of art and culture by supporting the ars vivaprize for young artists as part of the bank’s Art4Future initiative

HypoVereinsbank is pleased to confirm its support for the renowned ars viva prize awarded by ‘Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI e. V.’ (Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries e.V.), once again confirming its support to the promotion of young and emerging talents.

The highly acknowledged young talent prize is awarded to artists whose work is characterised by a trend-setting potential. This year’s winners are Rob Crosse (*1985), Richard Sides (*1985) und Sung Tieu (*1987), chosen from 45 proposed artists. The new engagement by HypoVereinsbank forms part of UniCredit Group’s Art4Future project aimed specifically at supporting emerging artists and communities in all UniCredit markets.

“Art creates awareness – that is why we see the promotion of art and culture as a medium to inspire people to be more creative, optimistic and open-minded, thus enabling a better coexistence in society”, says Dr. Michael Diederich, Spokesman of the Management Board of HypoVereinsbank. “The ars viva prize offers talented young artists a platform to present their works to a broader audience. Especially now, as the dynamic of the art scene is suffering due to Coronavirus, it is particularly important to give artists more visibility”.

Since 1953, the ‘Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI e.V.’ has awarded the ars viva prize to outstanding young artists living in Germany. The focus is on an independent formal language and awareness of contemporary issues. Every year, a jury selects three outstanding artists under 35 years who live and work in Germany and promotes them for one year with the ars viva prize.

The current ars viva cycle enables the prizewinners to have exhibitions at the ‘Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt’ (October 10, 2020 to January 2021) and at the “Kunstverein Hannover” (spring/summer 2021). The award also includes a bilingual exhibition catalogue, prize money of €5,000 each for the artists, and an artist residency at the “Fogo Island Arts Program” (Canada).
