How about a trip to the Sydney Opera House, an exhibition at the Egyptian Museum in Turin or a guided tour of the Vatican? Theatres, museums and galleries from across the world are ‘staying open’ by showcasing exhibitions and performances online so that everyone can take a cultural break. 1 Theatre

Many global theatres including the Royal Opera House (London), The Metropolitan Opera (New York) and the Mariinsky Theatre (St. Petersburg) are offering free performances, Q&A ‘s sessions and more via their websites.

The Racconti in tempo di peste Facebook page is running ad hoc performances, with the aim of promoting 100 authors in 100 days.

2 Museums

Google’s Arts & Culture virtual tours give you access to over 2,000 museums from around the globe. Some of the world’s most striking collections can be accessed at the click of the button, from the comfort of your own living room.

It might also be a good time to brush up on your Italian artistic knowledge with the Sky Art channel, showcasing some of the country’s finest painting and sculptures.

3 Literature

At 6:30pm every day, you can tune in to Fiesta Immobile, to spend half an hour in the company of the Holden School.

And, if you want to make sure you keep up with all the latest literary releases, a group “Decameron – a story will save us” has been created to support writers and publishers by promoting their latest work.

 

4 Cinema

If film is your thing, the Cineteca di Milano has made access to the Videoteca di Morando free, with more than five hundred classic and rare films.
