Sketches of Milan: Images of the UniCredit Tower, Skira edition, takes readers on a stunning visual journey through the UniCredit Tower. Designed by Architect Cesar Pelli, this new building has already become the center of "downtown Milan."
The images in the book include unusual foreshortenings that depict the construction of the building's foundations, its spire, the comings and goings of the people that work there, and the street life that thrives all around it.
The book, which has been published in cooperation with UniCredit, is comprised of 115 photographs taken by the Sonia Marin. The project, which began as an official photographic record of the construction of the UniCredit Tower, ultimately produced a compelling sequence of visual suggestions and emotions related not only to its architectural details but also to the people who built and work in the structure.
Sketches of Milan, released on Monday, June 30 to commemorate the completion of work on the tower, also features a critical dissertation by Walter Guadagnini, Chairman of the UniCredit Artistic Commission, and a new story by Luca Doninelli entitled, "Mr. Parker."
