Last December, L'Economia del Corriere della Sera published an article which explored the details underpinning this strong positioning. It includes an interview with Mercer analyst Massimo Magni, one of the researchers who conducted an in-depth analysis on welfare plans in Italy, who commented that:

"UniCredit is distinctive for the wealth of health services offered to their employees, including psychological support and assistance in the management of stress as well as education on health issues".

He also commented that UniCredit provides resources for parenting and study and career guidance for the children of colleagues.

Mercer also mentions our Group's Smartworking initiative, which was launched in 2014. This strategic project empowers people through new technology and processes to enable a more efficient ways of working within a better environment. For example, in Italy, 2.600 colleagues currently benefit from flexible working, which gives them the possibility of reducing or eliminating their commute for one day a week without compromising on their contributions.

These observations demonstrate the commitment of the UniCredit Group to responding to recent trends in the changing socio-economic environment, where important drivers such as technological innovation call for the definition of new ways of working. Thanks to the view shared with the European Works Council (UEWC), the Group signed the first joint declaration on Work Life Balance just last month, fully endorsed by UniCredit CEO, Jean Pierre Mustier. His comment:

"At UniCredit, we believe in the importance of respect.
Taking into consideration both personal and professional interests must be at the heart of everything we do. This will help us create a culture that enhances the value that each and every one of us can contribute".
