UniCredit has been named the Best Digital Bank, Best Digital Transformation and Best ESG Bank in Europe in 2023 by the World Economic Magazine, a US-based publication committed to promoting financial literacy and economic multi-polarity.
The World Economic Magazine's 2023 Awards recognize top performers in the global economy, in a variety of industries and regions, who are forging ahead to effectively engage prospective customers and investors while demonstrating effective environmental, social, and governance strategies.
On the bank's digital credentials, According to the magazine said, "UniCredit has been selected (...) as the Best Bank in Digital Transformation as it has embedded digital and data in its 13 banks across Europe, which has been key to put in place the organisation's new lean operating model. (...) UniCredit's new operating model is moving core competencies in house, delivering a new way of working centered around clients and common platforms".
The magazine also named Andrea Orcel as Best Banking CEO in Europe 2023, saying that "the magazine's Jury has considered many names and senior executives in the Europe's banking sector, but the choice finally fell on Mr Orcel unanimously as he has been a "go getter" since the beginning of in his career spanning for nearly 35 years, adding that "he has been a highly motivating leader for his teams wherever he worked, and this helped him in achieving the desired results in the financial institutions he worked so far".
