UniCredit informs that today the company and, personally, its CEO, Mr. Alessandro Profumo, have been served with the writ concerning the claim brought by a few hedge funds, minority shareholders of the German subsidiary HypoVereinsabank AG. Such claim is aimed at restoring HVB from damages allegedly suffered as a result of the group reorganization following the combination with HVB.
UniCredit deems the proposed action unfounded as all the transactions mentioned have been carried out on an arm's-length basis, also on the ground of independent external opinions and evaluations. Therefore both UniCredit and the CEO, Mr. Profumo, intend to lodge their defensive briefs to safeguard their respective rights.
