UniCredit: Antitrust clears merger between UniCredit and Capitalia
Today, following an investigation started on 17 July 2007, the Italian Antitrust Authority (AGCM) cleared the merger between UniCredit S.p.A. and Capitalia S.p.A.
The AGCM's authorization fulfils the last condition to which the effectiveness of the deed of merger was subject. As a result, the deed of merger can now be executed and registered with the Italian Commercial Register.
The AGCM granted its authorization to the merger on the basis of the implementation of certain remedies proposed by UniCredit during the investigation. Such measures have been considered to be appropriate in order to avoid any anticompetitive effects deriving from the merger.
