Massimo Milanta is the new Group Chief Information Officer.
Milanta succeeds Umberto Quilici as Head of the Group ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Department - the holding structure that defines the ICT strategy and the architectures aligning them to the business, manages the ICT integration programs, controls costs and co-ordinates 7000 resources working in 20 countries where the Group is present. Umberto Quilici keeps his current office as Chairman of UGIS (the Information Technology company of the Group), member of the Board of UPA and Quercia Software, as well as Senior ICT Advisor for the GBS Division. The internal turnover aims at ensuring continuity of the integration program and underlining the trust in the team that has achieved its results until now.
Born in Genoa in 1963, graduated in Electronic Engineering with a specialisation in Computer Science at the University of Genoa, Milanta starts his career with Andersen Consulting (currently, Accenture) in 1989, becoming a Partner in 2000. During his experience in Accenture, he mainly dealt with Information Technology Architectures for financial markets in Europe and complex integration programs on the Italian and international market. Milanta has been working in the technological area of the UniCredit Group since 1999: initially, as Accenture Partner for all the ICT advisory activities and, from October 2004, directly in UGIS as -Head of the IT Integration Programs of New Europe. Since 2006, he has been working as Head of the ICT Integration & Architecture Area in the Group ICT Department - GBS Division - responsible for co-ordinating all the activities of ICT integration and for defining the architectures and technological standards of the Group.
Umberto Quilici - with UniCredit since 1997 - accompanied all the changes occurred in the Group and supported all ICT integrations, initially as Managing Director of UGIS, and as Group CIO from 2004 up to now. Quilici keeps his current office as Chairman of UGIS, member of the Board of UPA and Quercia Software. He also acts as Senior ICT Advisor for the GBS Division.
Over the last ten years, the ICT Department of UniCredit enhanced the Group's external growth, allowing the quick integration in Italy of the 7 federated Banks and the following reorganisation by customer segment, opening to the European world until the big integration project with HVB - whose second anniversary is celebrated these days. Under the guidance of Umberto Quilici, the Group ICT role has considerably evolved, obtaining recognition for the strong support given to the development of the Group and becoming its strategic asset.
