Filarmonica '900 of the Teatro Regio of Turin, 2009-2010 symphonic concert season

October 31, 2009, will mark the opening night of the 2009-2010 symphonic concert season of the Filarmonica '900, the philharmonic orchestra of the Teatro Regio of Turin.

Filarmonica '900, which was founded and managed by the orchestra's own musicians, has been solely supported by private funding since its inception in 2003. This is the orchestra's seventh consecutive concert season, made possible by a renewed commitment from UniCredit Group, the major, permanent partner of the Filarmonica '900. The Group and  UniCredit Private Banking have supported the philharmonic from its very start.

This season, the Filarmonica '900 and the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio will alternate their performances through the season. A total of nine concerts will be held.

Four of the concerts will be performed by the Filarmonica '900:

Monday, November 30, 2009, at 8:30 pm
The first concert by the philharmonic, directed by Maestro Andrea Gasparella, will draw on a representative repertoire featuring popular soundtracks from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Schindler's List and Gladiator.

Monday, February 1, 2010, at 8:30 pm
A special guest, pianist Barry Douglas - currently one of the premier interpreters of Rachmaninov - will accompany the philharmonic and the talented, young director Henrik Shaefer in a performance of the famous "Rach 3" (Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30) and Prokofiev's Symphony No. 3.

Monday, March 1, 2010, at 8:30 pm
This beautiful and lyrical concert will capture a Spanish mood, thanks to Jacques Ibert's Escales, Maurice Ravel's Bolero, and the skill and passion of Japanese director, Yutaka Sado. The concert is made possible by an extraordinary contribution from the CRT Foundation.

Monday, May 24, 2010, at 8:30 pm
In a world premiere, the Filarmonica '900 will perform the striking Symphony No. 1 (Oceans), conducted by the composer himself, Maestro Ezio Bosso, creator of the exquisite soundtrack for the film I Am Not Scared ("Io non ho paura"), directed by Gabriele Salvatores. The soloist will be Relja Lukic, first cellist of the Teatro Regio.

Subscriptions and tickets go on sale starting October 13 at the Teatro Regio's box office, located at Piazza Castello 215, Turin - tel 011.8815.241/242. A full subscription to all nine concerts costs €150 (standard), €120 (age 65 and up or affiliates of the Teatro Regio), €100 (current Teatro Regio subscribers) and €50 (age 30 and under).
