HypoVereinsbank, member of UniCredit Group in Germany, successfully replaced its core banking software last weekend and launched EuroSIG, one of the most modern IT systems in Europe.
The process was coordinated by UGIS, the Global ICT company of the Group, responsible for systems development and delivery.
Paolo Fiorentino, Deputy CEO: "with the implementation of EuroSIG in Germany, the Group has achieved another strategic goal, in terms of cross country integration, efficiency and effectiveness.
EuroSIG is one of the pillars of the Group strategy on the way to even greater quality, and even greater international competitiveness. We will be able to offer optimized services to our customers, assuring a more valuable development and handling of products and processes across international borders".. across international borders.
Theodor Weimer, Board Spokesman of HypoVereinsbank: "The installation of a new, flexible, cross-border IT system for core banking processes in a major bank was a challenge never before undertaken in Europe, and one which we successfully mastered with the roll-out of EuroSIG during the past few days - we now have one of the best systems in Europe at our disposal.
Moreover, EuroSIG has definitely shown that the feeling of togetherness at UniCredit Group really works. More than 2000 employees from eight countries were actively involved in this project".
During the merger between HypoVereinsbank and UniCredit at the end of 2005, the consolidation of the various IT systems and the related growth and cost synergies were very important. Thanks to the successful roll-out of EuroSIG at HypoVereinsbank, over 60,000 UniCredit employees in Italy, the Czech Republic and Germany are now working based on the same IT platform.
With EuroSIG, UniCredit Group is continuing with the expansion of its unified IT platform which is individually designed and adjusted to meet local needs. EuroSIG covers all accounts, cards as well as customer master data, and efficiently supports the sales force at the related head offices and branches.
As a modern, adaptive system based on a modular structure, EuroSIG concentrates on the functionality of a core banking system, but it can also be integrated with outsourced and downstreamed systems.
