NOTE FOR THE PRESS

The Chairman of UniCredit Dieter Rampl, after the today Board of Directors assessment of the situation in North Africa, and especially Libya, released the following statement:

I am personally close to the people of Libya and hope that violence will end soon. There are also concerns as we have not been able to contact our Vice Chairman, Farhat Bengdara.

With regard to the stakes of Libyan shareholders in UniCredit, in the interests of all the shareholders and in compliance with the role of the Authorities, encouraging contacts have developed over recent months with a view to clarifying the situation that has arisen.

In any case, the decision concerning the exercise of voting rights by Libyan shareholders will be taken, when due, upon the most careful analysis of the facts by the Bank.
