UniCredit has created the position of "Group CIO", dedicated to governance of Group IT strategies and Operations

Management of governance is now strengthened in terms of policy and control of the organisation and the technological resources of UniCredit's IT system entrusted to Massimo Milanta, Chief Information Officer.

 

The new area, assigned with designing the ICT Group strategy, will focus on innovation and define the technological approach of the financial services business, managing risk assessment and complying with all the requirements of both national and European regulators. Special attention will be given to the optimisation of IT security systems, and thanks to direct control, also on the part of Back Office and Operations, to the improvement of end-to-end processes of banking services.

 

Building on his experience gained over the years, Massimo Milanta will hold this position with the aim of optimising the use of technological resources in support of implementing corporate strategies.

 

Having graduated in Electronic Engineering with a specialisation in Computer Science at the University of Genoa, Massimo Milanta began his career with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in 1989, where for many years he managed ICT projects and the development of solutions for online banking. In 1999 he began is long collaboration with UniCredit, in 2000 he was appointed Partner Accenture holding various important positions: Responsible for the Technical Architecture for Financial Services Markets in Italy, East Europe, Greece, Turkey and the Middle East and for all the IT activities in UniCredit Group. In 2004 he joined UniCredit Global Information Services as Head of New Europe IT Integration Program and, after the merger with HVB Group, Massimo Milanta was appointed UniCredit Head of ICT Integration in the GBS Division, coordinating the ICT Integration Program in the Group. Since 2007 he was appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) of UniCredit Group and in 2009 CEO of UniCredit Global Information Services. Since 2012 he has held the position of Managing Director and Group CIO at Unicredit Services, UniCredit's global service company, created from the integration and consolidation of 16 Group companies.
