UniCredit is further strengthening its International Network of foreign branches and representative offices, by adding new structures, operations and positions in order to improve its comprehensive services to corporate customers and better serve their international business needs.
The UniCredit International Network is headed by Gianfranco Bisagni and part of UniCredit's Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division, led by Deputy General Manager Gianni Franco Papa.
As part of the effort to strengthen the network, UniCredit has appointed Michele Amadei, former head of CIB at the largest bank in Bulgaria, UniCredit Bulbank, as the new head of UniCredit CIB activities in Asia, where the Group currently has nine branches and representative offices. He succeeds Andreas Wagner, who is now assuming responsibility for the international corporates business from and to Germany.
To further enhance its global presence, UniCredit began operating a branch in Madrid in February headed by Pedro de Santaella in order to provide corporate services to companies operating in Spain and Portugal.
UniCredit's branch in New York has also been strengthened with the addition of new desks focusing on debt capital markets, financial institutions and Latin America. In particular the addition of a debt capital markets (DCM) origination team in New York facilitated the recent corporate bond transactions of US issuers on the Euro market, including Ford and IBM where UniCredit acted as active book-runner, consolidating its Bank league table top positioning.
Moreover Flavio Bertolossi has joined UniCredit from SACE, the Italian export credit agency, and has been appointed co-head of the Group's representative office in São Paulo, Brazil.
In UniCredit's London branch, David Vials has been appointed Head of Corporate Coverage UK with responsibility for managing corporate client relationships in the UK, effective 1 May 2016. Prior to taking on this new role, David was responsible for UniCredit's Financial Sponsor Solutions International team in London.
"These developments confirm the strategy to further reinforce our international network, which is already one of the largest among European players. We are already present in 21 cities and 19 countries on four continents with 400 professionals," said UniCredit's Deputy General Manager and Head of the Corporate & Investment Banking division, Gianni Franco Papa. "Through our International Network, we are currently serving about 10,000 corporate customers, by supporting their funding needs with over €5 billion in loans, offering access to international capital markets and assisting their international operations and growth. We plan to continue investing and after the opening in Spain we are evaluating the potential to open additional international branches,"
The International Network complements Commercial Banking Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland and Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) where UniCredit has set up the UniCredit International Centers, which serve as the point of entry that gathers 300 professionals specialized in international business for corporate clients.
