UniCredit's Maurizio Beretta promoted to Group Head of Institutional Affairs & Sustainability and Chairman of the UniCredit Foundation. Max Hohenberg joins UniCredit from CNC Communications as Group Head of Identity & Communications

UniCredit today announced that Maurizio Beretta, Group Head of Identity & Communications since 2011, has been promoted to Group Head of Institutional Affairs & Sustainability  and Chairman of the merged UniCredit Foundations, and that Max Hohenberg will be joining UniCredit at the end of May as the new Group Head of Identity & Communications.

 

The new Group Institutional Affairs & Sustainability structure, led by Maurizio Beretta, will focus on managing relationships with Institutional counter-parties and relevant opinion leaders, as well as Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Social Impact Banking activities, UniCredit Foundation, Cultural Sponsorships and Donations. Maurizio Beretta will continue to report to Group CEO Jean Pierre Mustier as well as remain a permanent invitee of the Executive Management Committee.

 

Max Hohenberg who is an experienced and well recognised international communications expert with deep understanding of the Italian market will be running the Group Identity & Communication which includes Media Relations, Group Internal Communication, Group Digital Communications and Group Brand Management. He will also be working closely with Group Institutional Affairs and the Investor Relations team to ensure consistency of messages and communications approach across the whole Group.  Max Hohenberg will report directly to Group CEO Jean Pierre Mustier and will become a permanent invitee of the Executive Management Committee.

Maurizio Beretta began his career at RAI, the Italian state broadcaster, and spent 20 years as a reporter, special correspondent and editor of RaiUNO before joining the Fiat Group in 2001 where in 2003 he became Director of Institutional and International Relations. Maurizio Beretta was General Manager of Confindustria from 2004 to 2009 and a Member of the Board of CNEL, allowing him to reinforce his expertise and his already unrivalled Italian network. In March 2011 Maurizio Beretta took up his previous role as UniCredit's Head of Group Identity & Communications.

 

Max Hohenberg, an Austrian national fluent in Italian, English and French, was before joining UniCredit a Partner at Munich based CNC Communications, the leading German international communications consultancy, where he was also responsible for CNC's Austrian business. He has extensive advisory experience in political communications, corporate communications, IR and strategy development. During 2013-14 Max Hohenberg was seconded to the IOR (also known as the Vatican Bank) to assist with the communications around the banks compliance reforms. Prior to joining CNC in 2002, Max Hohenberg spent six years at SalomonSmithBarney (Citigroup) where he focused on equity capital markets, and was jointly responsible for IPOs in the German and Austrian markets. Max holds a Master's Degree from the London School of Economics.
