Hosted annually and broadcast live on Class CNBC TV, the MF Banking Awards honour the leading companies in the Italian financial sector.
UniCredit took home the following awards:
Best Standard Ethics Rating - MF ESG Elite
UniCredit was awarded the best rating among Italian banks by Standard Ethics, an agency specializing in ESG ratings, based on the sustainability principles promoted by the UN, OECD and European Union. ESG is embedded in everything the bank does, and one of the five strategic imperatives of UniCredit Unlocked. The bank's goal is to deliver a positive and sustainable transition to green energy which does as little harm to the planet and its people as possible. Therefore, UniCredit will continue to take concrete actions to further integrate ESG factors into the bank's main activities. The bank's ESG Committee (ESGC) supports the Board of Directors in fulfilling its responsibilities with respect to the ESG components integral to the Group's business strategy and sustainability. It also provides opinions and support to the other Board Committees so as to ensure the alignment of Group policies with UniCredit's ESG principles and objectives. In 2022, cooperation with other Board Committees was further consolidated. For example, ESG topics which are strictly related to risk matters, such as climate and environmental risks, were addressed jointly with the Internal Controls and Risks Committee (IC&RC).
Data Mesh - Innovation Award for the category of Data driven banking - Boundaryless - Evolving internal processes and IT infrastructure
UniCredit's Data Mesh Platform was created with the aim of increasing speed and agility in the processing of data, focusing solely on decision-making and, consequently, on the creation of business value, without having to worry about the findability and quality of information. This brings many benefits, including: the uniqueness and higher quality of the data, alongside easier access to the data, thanks to a self-service approach. Data Mesh enables the Bank to achieve a strong reduction in time-to-market and cost when implementing new use cases, while making data governance more efficient and fostering data re-usability.
University Italy - Innovation Award for the category Talent - Attracting and developing the best talents
UniCredit University Italy is the physical and digital ecosystem dedicated to the training of the Bank's employees, enabling them to update and expand their skills and knowledge in line with the individual needs and drivers of strategic development of the Group. UniCredit University strongly focuses on face-to-face training, with a focus on promoting the exchange of information, market knowledge and best practices. The philosophy of UniCredit University is based on the development of widespread talent, promoting, and training the unique and distinctive skills and characteristics of each colleague. The University has also activated a faculty of internal professors, who put their knowledge and experience at the service of colleagues looking to further their professional development, with a view to promoting sustainability and continuous growth of the Group's Human Capital.
Sustainable Front-End - Innovation Award for the category Twin Bank - Combining innovation and sustainability to generate long-term value.
Sustainable Front-End (S-FE) is an application that collects sustainability information and KPIs at the level of individual loans. Adopted by the UniCredit Sales Network in 2022, the tool aims to create a single ecosystem of ESG data within the bank and is used for business and reporting purposes, while also allowing the bank to track loans' ESG characteristics directly from the engagement phase. This also helps the bank diversify its product offer to clients, accompanying them on their sustainable transition.
