Women in Finance Charter

Over the years, UniCredit has been dedicated to nurturing our leaders across all our geographies, with an ambition to elevate their career aspirations and equip them with the skills and know-hows to achieve more.

We actively engage our employees in various leadership programs and tailored individual development initiatives, ensuring equal representation of female and male participants. This approach provides everyone with equal foundation to grow into senior roles within the organisation.

A pledge for gender balance across financial services

In June 2018, UniCredit proudly joined the UK HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter, demonstrating our commitment to enhancing gender diversity in the financial services sector in the UK and globally. This initiative is a key component of UniCredit's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, which builds on a series of decisive actions we have already taken to achieve gender parity across all organisational levels. Our efforts encompass a range of initiatives, including recruitment and talent professional development, fair remuneration, work-life balance, and education.

About Women in Finance Charter

The Charter represents a commitment by the UK's HM Treasury and its signatory companies to collaboratively build a more balanced and equitable industry. By signing up, companies pledge to be leaders in the sector, striving for excellence. The Charter actively engages financial organisations to support the progression of women in senior roles, signing the declaration and committing to four key principles.

2024 Progress (giugno '23 vs '24)

We are committed to building a better tomorrow for all our stakeholders by championing diversity and equality at all levels of our organisation. Our primary focus is to unlock the full potential of our people fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. This approach ensures sustainable growth, new business opportunities, and a cohesive work environment focused on productivity, personal and professional well-being, and the continuous engagement of our people.

At UniCredit, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) principles are a business imperative. Our DE&I strategy goes beyond gender, encompassing broader diversity strands, and is fully integrated into our ESG framework and business agenda across all 13 countries where we operate.

We are actively building a gender-balanced and diverse organisation, reflecting our unwavering belief in the transformative power of diversity. Among our strategic commitments to support our overall ESG stance, we have set an intermediate goal of achieving 40% female representation in our leadership team by 2025. As of June 2024, we achieved 33% female representation in these roles, marking a significant increase of 24% since we signed the Charter in June 2018.

Despite significant organisational changes, we have successfully maintained a high level of female representation at the leadership level. Our Group Executive Committee, with 50% female representation as of June 2024, and our Board of Directors, with 47% female presence, are testaments to this commitment. We are confident that UniCredit Group is on track to meet our Charter target and pursue our gender diversity ambitions, which are not just social imperatives but strategic advantages that fuel innovation, enrich decision-making processes, foster sustainable growth, and drive cultural change.

UniCredit remains committed to fostering a meaningful and impactful Culture and implementing best practices to achieve full equality and inclusivity. We ensure that all employees, regardless of gender, age, religion, cultural heritage, and other diversity stands feel valued and empowered, unlocking their potential to become the changemakers and act as the engine of social growth, fulfilling our Purpose of empowering communities to progress.

As an employer, we have set a series of ambitions and commitments, including guaranteeing equal opportunities for all colleagues, supporting personal growth and well-being, nurturing a positive and inclusive working environment, and leveraging our unique pan-European footprint to drive innovation, helping us to provide best-in-class solutions for our customers.

At UniCredit, we are striving to create value for everyone, everywhere. We look forward to continuing this journey together and achieving our shared goals keeping our Values of Integrity, Ownership and Caring at the center of everything we do.
