Skills for Transition is a social programme, fully funded by UniCredit.
It delivers strategic training to young people - including students and those not in education, employment or training (NEETs) - and companies expected to be impacted by the green transition, helping them to develop the skills they need to meet the demands of a changing environment whilst generating a measurable social impact.
The initiative sits firmly in line with UniCredit's strong commitment to promoting a just and fair transition, as well as its consistent support for education - a key driver for Europe's future. Together, these form part of the bank's stated purpose of empowering its communities to progress and underpin many of its ESG goals.
The Skills for Transition programme runs across six UniCredit Group countries (Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania), and three different audiences:
The workers stream, developed in partnership with Accenture, provides training for the workforce of UniCredit's corporate clients, offering upskilling through specific learning paths. The training courses are already available.
Participation in the training is completely free for both companies and workers. Training is delivered through a digital platform, accessible 24/7 and in workers' local languages to ensure maximum flexibility.
The digital offer consists of a course on the fundamentals of ESG, suitable for any type of company, as well as three training paths designed specifically for the following sectors: Agrifood, Real Estate & Construction, and Transportation & Storage.
The training covers three different levels of content: cross-ESG, industry-specific, and profile-specific for blue and white collars.
In collaboration with a social cooperative , UniCredit's initiative is to support NEETs through skilling and reskilling, with the aim of helping them approach the job market or pursue atraining path focused on green topics.
The course is aimed at young people aged between 15 and 29 who are unemployed and not in school, as well as re-entrants (people seeking work following a job loss with reskilling needed to restart in the job market).
Lasting approximately 5 months, we offer training sessions both in person and online, as well as meetings with entrepreneurs at companies and in-person tutoring service to guide participants in learning the skills and obtaining a final certificate.
The student stream, developed by POLIMI Graduate School of Management, offers selected students the chance to take part in two educational paths:
- A Master's programme for recent graduates
- A four-month Bootcamp for both current students and graduates
Both paths are aimed at increasing knowledge and awareness around the green transition, sustainable finance, and Net Zero targets, helping them to acquire skills that will boost their future employment prospects.
The course will also involve working directly with some of the companies most exposed to the green transition, with students addressing specific business-related challenges and gaining hands-on experience, thereby putting their newfound skills into practice.
In addition, Manpower will engage the partecipants in skills assessment activities as a career provider under the project.
