UniCredit appoints Edoardo Spezzotti as Head of the Markets & Investment Banking Division

Theodor Weimer appointed as Head of Global Investment Banking

UniCredit has appointed Edoardo Spezzotti as the new Head of the Markets & Investment Banking Division, reporting to Sergio Ermotti, Deputy CEO of the Group. Spezzotti will also become a Member of the Group's Management Committee.
Edoardo Spezzotti has been Co-Head of Global Investment Banking and a member of the UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking Executive Committee since June 2006. Prior to joining, he held top management positions with Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch.
"Edoardo has played a key role in the integration and expansion of the Group's global investment banking platform", Sergio Ermotti commented. "I am convinced that he will extend these successes as Head of Markets & Investment Banking, establishing our franchise as a leading player in the European investment banking industry," he added.
Theodor Weimer, currently Co-Head of Global Investment Banking, will assume sole responsibility for Global Investment Banking reporting to Edoardo Spezzotti. He recently joined the UniCredit Group from Goldman Sachs, where he was a Partner. Prior to this he held senior management responsibilities at Bain & Company and McKinsey.

The UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking Division was launched in July 2006, bundling the global markets and investment banking services of Bank Austria Creditanstalt AG, Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG and UniCredit Banca Mobiliare SpA under one brand and organization. The division has approx. 3,300 employees in 39 offices worldwide, including all the major financial centers, and an extended network presence in Emerging Europe. In 2006, the division has posted revenues of 3.2 bn Euros and a pre-tax profit of 1.6 bn.
