UniCredit appoints Jana Hecker as Global Head of Equity Capital Markets

Stefania Godoli named Head of CIB-CCB Italy Joint Venture in February;

        Bank also announces a series of broader managerial changes to ECM platform

UniCredit has appointed Jana Hecker as Global Head of Equity Capital Markets, effective from March 2020.

Ms. Hecker is based in Munich and reports to Luca Falco, Head of Global Syndicate & Capital Markets - she takes over from Stefania Godoli who was named Head of UniCredit's CIB-CCB Italy Joint Venture in February.

In her new role, Ms. Hecker is responsible for global equity capital markets origination and execution activities, as well as the bank's strategic partnership with Kepler-Cheuvreux around research and distribution services.

Ms. Hecker started her career at J.P. Morgan in New York in cross asset class structuring before joining Goldman Sachs in 2010, where she was responsible for providing equity capital markets access and strategic equity solutions to Western European clients. Most recently, she co-headed Deutsche Bank's equity cash and strategic derivatives business for the DACH region.

Alongside the appointment of Ms. Hecker, UniCredit also outlined the following internal managerial changes to its ECM platform -

  • Matthias Janssen appointed Head of Equity-Linked Products;
  • Alexander Vart appointed Head of ECM Germany & Austria;
  • Paolo Garzarelli appointed Head of ECM Italy;
  • Luca Domina, formerly Co-Head of ECM Italy, to take up a new role within UniCredit's Industry Team as a Sector Specialist for Consumer Goods.

Each of the appointments listed above is effective immediately.

Commenting on the moves, Richard Burton, UniCredit's Head of Corporate & Investment Banking, said: "Jana's appointment and the broader changes announced today will further strengthen our equity capital markets platform as we continue to fine-tune our offering and  deliver best in class solutions to our extensive client franchise."

Since the beginning of 2017, UniCredit has played a key role in nine of twelve notable IPOs priced on the Italian Main Market - confirming the bank as the partner of choice in Italian equity capital markets and underscoring its recognition as 'Equity Capital Markets Bank of the Year in Italy' at GlobalCapital's 2019 ECM Awards.

In Germany, UniCredit climbed to an institutional high of seventh in terms of ECM market share last year, according to Dealogic data[1].

Last year, UniCredit secured a series of lead roles in some of the most high profile ECM transactions in its core countries, as well as being at the forefront of the equity-linked market, successfully pricing a EUR 2.3 billion equity raising for Delivery Hero in January, structured in a dual-tranche of EUR 1,750 million convertible bond with a concurrent EUR 571 million primary ABB. The transaction marked the largest ever German combined convertible bond.

Through its partnership with Kepler Cheuvreux, UniCredit has access to best in class research and a distribution platform covering the largest investor base worldwide.
