Climbing the ranks in Central & Eastern Europe

Awards season started early for UniCredit banks and companies in Central and Eastern Europe. During  the first three months of 2023 local teams’ achievements were recognised with more than 35 awards. Over 80% of them are business awards for excellence in products, services or client experience, and six shine a light to UniCredit as best place to work.

At the very beginning of 2023 UniCredit was recognised as a Top Employer for our CE&EE banks in Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia. A note of honour was also given to our banks in Italy and Germany. Being certified as a Top Employer proves an organisation's dedication to a better working environment also thanks to excellent HR policies and people practices.

UniCredit also became the CEE Market Leader in the Euromoney Trade Finance Survey 2023. Our group picked 22 awards across various categories and geographies, 20 of which went to CE&EE banks.  In the "Best Service" rankings, UniCredit retained top global honors for another consecutive year, besides securing success in “Central and Eastern Europe” (CEE), in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and ranked number one in Bulgaria for the first time in the same category. UniCredit was also highly successful in the "Market Leader" category, securing the top spot in CEE, alongside a further ten countries – namely, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia, and gaining the first position also in Bulgaria.

Three of our banks in CE&EE were recognised for their outstanding Private Banking. In the annual Global Private Banking Awards 2023 by Euromoney, Schoellerbank became Austria’s Best Private Bank – International. Bulgaria’s Best Private Bank for High-Net-Worth Individuals was indisputably assigned to UniCredit Bulbank and in Hungary the local bank was named the country’s Best Private Bank – International.

The Best Trade Finance Provider 2023 prize by Global Finance went to UniCredit Bank Bosnia and Herzegovina Mostar and to Zagrebacka Banka in Croatia. The editorial review board of Global Finance selected the best trade finance providers based on entries from banks, as well as input from industry analysts, corporate executives and technology experts.

UniCredit also succeeded in Global Finance’s 30th Annual Awards for the World’s Best Banks with country awards in Bulgaria and in Bosnia and Herzegovina Mostar. In selecting these top banks, the criteria included: growth in assets, profitability, geographic reach, strategic relationships, new business development and innovation in products.

But this is not the end, because our banks were also recognised with prestigious local awards.

UniCredit Bank in CZ&SK took home the gold from this year's Finparade for offering the Best consumer loan on the market! The bank retained 1st place from last year with its PRESTO Loan in the comparison of offers by other financial institutions on the Czech website Finparáda.cz.

The Association of Chartered Accountants awarded our CZ&SK bank with the "ACCA approved employer" award. This is great news not only for potential candidates for a career in our bank, but also for existing colleagues, who thus have an easier way to demonstrate continuous education.

The publication Moje finance magazine​ awarded UniCredit bank in Slovenia with the Best investment funds recognition. 

UniCredit Bank Mostar was also recognised as Most Desirable ​Employer by the MojPosao.ba publication. Overall, at least for the first quarter of 2023, it is the most awarded of our CE&EE Banks.
