Music for Good: Filarmonica della Scala's Prove Aperte Continues
Wednesday 08 January 2025
The fourteenth edition of the Filarmonica della Scala's Prove Aperte (Open Rehearsals), supported by UniCredit Foundation, has been officially announced to open on 26 January 2025.
Transforming concert rehearsals into a vehicle for meaningful social change, the Prove Aperte program provides the unique opportunity for public to attend Filarmonica della Scala's rehearsals at affordable prices dedicating all proceeds to non-profit organisations located in Milan. Since 2010, the initiative achieved remarkable results organising 69 charitable evenings with nearly 130,000 spectators who raised more than €1.6 million for 54 social organisations.
The 2025 edition will feature an extraordinary series of four concerts, each supporting local organisations combating educational poverty, starting with a free inaugural concert at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory on 26 January, where Riccardo Chailly will conduct Mahler's Symphony No. 7 – setting a powerful tone for the year's cultural and social impact.
Each concert is carefully curated to both showcase exceptional musical talent and support crucial social causes:
- 25 May, performance led by Kazuki Yamada with violinist Nikolaj Znaider will provide aid for Associazione CAF Onlus’s Education Center “Teen Lab”.
- 12 October, concert conducted by Myung-Whun Chung with pianist Mao Fujita will support Cooperativa Zero5 and their afternoon educational centers across Milan.
- 2 November, final performance conducted by Manfred Honeck with pianist Benjamin Grosvenor will dedicate collected funds to Fondazione Aquilone’s Scuola bottega, an educational and training space for pre-adolescents at risk of dropping out of school.
Furthermore, the program also includes the innovative "Giro di Prova" initiative, which brings young people from beneficiary organisations closer to classical music through special workshops and free concert attendance.
Recognising the immense impact of the program to local community across Milan, on 7 December, Prove Aperte received one of the most prestigious acknowledgement - Ambrogino d'oro, a testament to the Filarmonica della Scala's and UniCredit Foundation's commitment to using music and education as a powerful tool for social change, proving the vital cultural support needed for community growth.
The UniCredit Foundation continues to play a pivotal role in identifying and supporting projects that address critical social challenges, ensuring that each concert not only delivers exceptional musical performances but also creates meaningful social impact.
