A Global Racer with a Singular Passion

Born in Spain to a Dutch father and a Belgian mother, Maya Weug’s passion for racing ignited at the young age of seven. Her international background reflects her versatility both on and off the track.

From Karting to Formula Racing

Maya’s journey began in karting. Her skill and dedication earned her a place in Formula 4 and Formula Regional, where she proved her ability to compete at the highest levels. Her hard work and perseverance culminated in a top-three finish in the F1 Academy standings last year, further solidifying her place as a rising star in the sport.

The Red Encounter: Making History

Maya etched her name in history by becoming the first female driver to join the Ferrari Driver Academy - an achievement that underscores her exceptional talent and determination. Reflecting on this milestone, she says, “Getting into the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy is a dream come true”.

Life Beyond Racing

While motorsport is her greatest passion, Maya also enjoys life’s simple pleasures. A self-proclaimed lover of Italian cuisine, she humorously admits, “I love Italian gelato, pasta, and pizza. It’s not easy to live in Italy when you love these kinds of food”.

UniCredit is proud to support her journey and looks forward to witnessing her continued success on the global stage.
