La Filarmonica della Scala incontra la città is a vibrant program of orchestra rehearsals open to the public. With the support of UniCredit, the Filarmonica's main partner, and the UniCredit Foundation, the series of open rehearsals benefits nonprofit organizations working in Milan. For its work on the program, UniCredit, together with Aragorn, an agency in the nonprofit sector, was recently awarded first prize in the 2013 Charity/Fundraising category at the annual International Events & Relational Strategies GrandPrix event. This year, the program benefits four nonprofit organizations that serve the elderly.
The open rehearsals program:
As in previous years, the series was kicked off with a rehearsal open for free to the people of Milan and will be followed by four performances benefitting select nonprofit organizations. The first such rehearsal took place on November 3 and was directed by Myung-Whun Chung.
On January 12, a rehearsal will be conducted by Daniel Harding on behalf of Caritas Ambrosiana; on January 16, by Myung-Whun Chung on behalf of Auser Milano; on February 16, by Daniel Barenboim on behalf of Progetto Arca; and on March 30, by David Afkham on behalf of Associazione Seneca. Each of the programs will be introduced by Carla Moreni, the music critic for the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.
