Great success for the concert by the Filarmonica della Scala in Piazza Duomo, Monday, May 26, with Maestro Esa-Pekka Salonen and the great pianist Lang Lang.

The "Concert for Milan" by Filarmonica della Scala, realized also thanks to its Main Partner UniCredit, has brought in Piazza del Duomo 45,000 people: a huge audience, formed by viewers of all ages, citizens and tourists who listened carefully and with enthusiasm despite the bad weather not only the fascinating Concerto No. 2 by Rachmaninoff performed by Lang Lang but also the "Sagra della primavera" by Stravinsky, a rousing song, electrical, but also unusual for an outdoor concert.

This is the cultural challenge that the Filarmonica della Scala wanted to launch together with the Municipality of Milan, the sponsors and the Main Partner UniCredit: to propose to a wide and diverse audience a cornerstone of twentieth century music that fills the halls concert but so far had not filled the squares before.

For the Filarmonica della Scala the project about the "Sagra della primavera" lasted a month: first the performance at La Scala, also conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, then ithe project for children "Sound, Music!" with Francesco Micheli, who also presented the Duomo concert. The "Concerto for Milan", who will return every year, is part of the "Open Philharmonic" rpoject: a set of initiatives, carried out with the main partner UniCredit, to involve the citizens of Milan in listening and enjoyment of great symphonic music. Are part of this initiative also the open rehearsals cycle "La Scala Philharmonic meets the city," the children project "Sound, Music!" for pupils in primary schools and "MusicEmotion" projections of concerts in movie theaters.

UniCredit and La Scala Philharmonic are proud to have brought great music in the Piazza, closer to a wide audience that was able to enjoy the beauty of timeless music.
