UniCredit Mobile Banking in Italy: success in numbers

UniCredit, one of the most important European bank, disclosed today important data about the mobile banking market, reporting that the application the Group launched in Italy a year ago has recently exceeded the successful result of 6.000.000 user logins, achieving a 400% increase in the last six months.

Available as native client on iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Nokia platforms and as mobile site for any other connected phone, the solution developed by Opentech ENG (www.opentecheng.com) and Unicredit Global Information Services aims to provide a highly usable, comfortable and safe way to access financial services in mobility. Customers can check their account balance, make payments, manage credit, debit and prepaid cards, trade stocks and locate the nearest branch at anytime and everywhere without having to stand in a queue or in front of a PC. In addition, the application integrates an exclusive one-time password generator - the "mobile token" - enabling completely safe online transactions with no need of physical token or password card.

Thanks to its functional completeness and its amazing user experience, the application, according to the reviews on the Italian Apple Store and Android Market, has become one of the most popular in the finance category, with an average rating of about five stars.

The data of the last twelve months confirm this result: more than 125.000 active customers for a total of 6.300.000 logins, of which 5.900.000 by native applications and 400.000 by mobile site; more than 530.000 transactions performed through the mobile token.

"Since the launch of the application - said Liana Gentile, Head of Internet & Mobile Banking Channel Management at UniCredit Italy - we've experienced an incredible customer satisfaction. In this year we have constantly enhanced our product adding new services and features in order to be always in line with our clients' expectations".

Stefano Andreani, Opentech ENG Chief Executive Officer, commented: "Our goal was to optimize the user experience depending on the access device. Our solution includes native clients for popular platforms and a mobile site compatible with all Internet-enabled phones, ensuring high quality and reliability on both smartphones and feature phones".
