Pedro Fernández de Santaella joins UniCredit Corporate and Investment Banking as Head of Iberia

UniCredit SpA today announces that it has named Pedro Fernández de Santaella as Head of Iberia, with responsibility for Spanish and Portuguese clients, effective 1 July 2015.  Mr. de Santaella will be based in Madrid and report to Gianfranco Bisagni, Deputy Head of Corporate and Investment Banking.

"We are delighted to welcome Pedro to UniCredit where he will make a positive contribution to our coverage in line with our international ambitions.  We already have an important client base in Iberia that has been successfully served by our Vienna and Munich based colleagues. We are now further improving the service we provide to Spanish and Portugese clients by appointing a locally based senior manager," said Gianni Papa, Deputy General Manager of UniCredit and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking.

"Pedro is the perfect fit for the role of Head of Iberia as he has the confidence and trust of many CEOs and CFOs of the most important Iberian public entities, corporates and financial institutions, and ample experience in global markets, investment banking and corporate banking," added Gianfranco Bisagni,  Deputy Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, UniCredit.

Mr. de Santaella previously served as Head of Investment Banking Barclays Capital for Spain, which was a position he held since 1999.  He started his career at Citi in Spain in 1987 before moving to Chase Investment Bank, where he was located in the UK and then Spain, and Bankers Trust in the UK, where he gained substantial experience in global markets.
