Today, 28 February 2020, UniCredit was advised that an employee based in Milan, Piazza Gae Aulenti, has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. After having been in contact with a suspected case, this employee has been in self quarantine since Friday 21 February 2020, whilst awaiting the conclusive test results. UniCredit is in ongoing contact with the affected employee to ensure he gets all the support possible and wishes him a speedy recovery.
As precautionary measure UniCredit decided on Sunday 23 February to close the floor where the employee was working. The floor has now been deep-cleaned and disinfected and will remain off limits until further notice.
Again, as a precautionary measure, on Monday UniCredit contacted all employees who may have been in close and recent contact with the individual, advising them to self-quarantine for 14 days and to follow the advice of the health authorities.
As of Monday 24 February UniCredit introduced precautionary measures such as temperature screening at the entrances of our larger buildings, installation of disinfection distributers, as well as distribution of masks and antibacterial gel. UniCredit also alerted suppliers to advise them to take similar measures and to limit physical visits. Common employee areas in larger UniCredit's buildings in Milan and vicinity will remain closed.
Jean Pierre Mustier, CEO of UniCredit, said: "The health and safety of all our colleagues and clients is of paramount importance to us. We have taken precautions to safeguard our colleagues and ensure full business continuity for our clients. Also, if ever there was a moment to show solidarity and support for our clients and their local economies, it is now. Hence UniCredit is taking specific action and rolling out dedicated initiatives to help companies and individuals affected by the current situation".
For the week starting 2 March, UniCredit will keep all the above mentioned measures in place, including smart working.
UniCredit Towers will remain open.
The health and well-being of employees and customers is UniCredit's top priority. The Group will continue to monitor the situation and act in everyone's best interests, in close cooperation with authorities.
