Shining 50th edition of Umbria Jazz
Friday 21 July 2023
The 50th birthday of Umbria Jazz, of which UniCredit was Official Sponsor, was a roaring success, far beyond expectations in terms of spectators, takings and social interaction. The promotion of all forms of art and music represents a concrete commitment for UniCredit not only to nurture an inclusive culture but also to contribute to the development of the territories in which the bank operates.
Roaring success for the 50th edition of the Umbria Jazz Festival that has just ended. The Italian jazz event saw important performances with record-breaking takings which, in addition to representing an undisputed success for this historic event, also meant an important result for the local economy.
The promotion of all forms of art and music in Italy represents a concrete commitment for UniCredit not only to nurture an inclusive culture but also to contribute to the development of the territories in which the bank operates.
Over the past ten days, illustrious names have taken turns on stage: the extraordinary storyteller Bob Dylan, the voice of Italian singer-songwriter Paolo Conte, the most famous hits of the Police orchestrated by Stewart Copeland, the songs of the American but also Italian, Irish and Latin American popular repertoire by Rhiannon Giddens, the songs of blues rock by Joe Bonamassa and those linked to the folk roots of Ben Harper.
But also, a lot of jazz: an edition irradiated by the flashes of Brad Mehldau's trio, Branford Marsalis's quartet, the Enrico Rava- Fred Hersch duo, Bill Frisell's quartet, Herbie Hancock's stellar band, the Italian stars Stefano Bollani and Paolo Fresu, but also by the quieter, almost chamber-like atmosphere of the concerts in the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria.
A special mention goes to this year’s quality of the free concert programme, also in homage to the formula with which the festival was conceived fifty years ago.
See you at the next edition!
