Living Pride Month across our countries
Friday 30 June 2023
This year, for the first time, UniCredit was amongst the official sponsors of Pride parades in three countries where the bank operates: Austria, Germany and Italy, as well as participating in other dedicated activations across all our geographies. The month was also a moment to renew our support to the LGBTQIA+ community and spread awareness and positivity within our workplace, promoting equal rights for all and celebrating colleagues across our Group.
Together with the Unicorns, our bank’s Employee Network dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community, colleagues spread awareness, reinforcing the Unicorn’s slogan of “United in diversity” during three major European Pride parades.
In Austria at the Vienna Pride Parade, UniCredit Bank Austria was the official sponsor on 17 June with almost 300,000 participants in the event, including more than 150 UniCredit employees with their companions, Unicorns members and allies on a dedicated Pride truck.
In Germany at the Munich Pride Parade, UniCredit Bank AG was the official sponsor on 24 June with more than 60,000 participants at the parade and an overall attendance of 520,000 at Christopher Street Day, an annual European LGBTQIA+ celebration. Over 60 UniCredit employees and Unicorns allies participated proudly in the parade on our dedicated Pride truck.
UniCredit S.p.A. was also the official sponsor in Italy, Milan on 24 June with almost 300,000 participants in the Milano Pride parade. More than 110 UniCredit employees, Unicorns members, allies and their relatives took part in the exciting and joyful celebration that span across the city.
In addition, several colleagues in Slovenia actively joined the Ljubljana Pride parade among 3,500 participants on 17 June while colleagues from Czech Republic and Slovakia will take part in the Prague Pride parade on 12 August.
Let’s all continue sharing our commitment to raising awareness on the meaning and history of Pride by being an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community – embracing what it truly means to empower communities to progress.
*LGBTQIA+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Ally/Asexual, and the "+" sign represents all the other identities.
